Gerard Damoc holds a BSc and MSc in Physics from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). He carried out his Master’s thesis in the laboratory of Fernando Moreno-Herrero, where he worked with the group’s combined Atomic Force Microscopy and Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence Microscopy (AFM-TIRFM) setup. His work focused on the optimization of the instrument and its operation, including the development of dedicated software to facilitate and improve its use.
He is currently pursuing his PhD in the same research group. His research focuses on the development and application of advanced single-molecule microscopy techniques to study DNA/RNA–protein interactions. His work involves the further improvement and application of the existing AFM-TIRFM setup, as well as the construction and development of a new high-speed Atomic Force Microscopy (HS-AFM) platform and its application to the study of nucleic acid–protein interactions.”
